Welcome to B.C.O.T.F #9
We are a branch of the B.C. Old Time Fiddlers called Kootenay No. 9. Formed in Castlegar in 1981, we are a non-profit organization with members from all around the Kootenays, and our motto is “To Promote Fiddling”. We want to particularly focus on young folks so that old time fiddling will carry on through the years.
In the 1980’s and 1990’s we held Fiddle Contests and entertained our seniors at the various care facilities and many local functions in Castlegar, Trail and Nelson areas.
For the past eight years we have been holding a Fiddle Work Shop in conjunction with Selkirk College, Castlegar Campus. It is held the third week in July and is open to all levels of fiddlers, pianos and guitars, from beginners to advanced. We have been fortunate in having some very accomplished and experienced instructors, and the workshop is becoming extremely popular in music circles.
This year our workshop is being held July 13th through 17th, and we are looking forward to another very successful, educational and entertaining event.
